La Oficina provides space to grow, while helping Puerto Rico grow too

The newest coworking space in San Juan launches social responsibility program for Act 20/ 22 community

San Juan, PR- During the second instalment of its Power Lunch series, La Oficina Coworking Space launched its new program La Oficina Cares. The goal of the program is to facilitate new social responsibility opportunities for Act 20/22 tenants and associates interested in finding innovative ways in which they can collaborate with different organizations and initiatives in their new Puerto Rican communities.

“Many of our tenants are new to Puerto Rico, and besides growing their businesses, many of them are also interested in finding ways in which they can collaborate and contribute to local community efforts. With La Oficina Cares program we will serve as a platform and match any interested tenant with an effort we believe they can help mentor and grow,” explained R oberto Corretjer, one of the La Oficina partners.

The first community initiative to take part in the program is Centro para Emprendedores, a non-profit organization that helps launch promising start-up companies. The organization’s founder, Nerma Albertorio, joined La Oficina Power Lunch to share some of the success stories of young entrepreneurs they have supported in the past, and to recruit new mentors and sponsors for the many other participants in the program. “By helping initiatives such as this one, we provide an opportunity for our tenants to help other local companies grow and prosper through their mentorship and support. We provide our tenants with space to grow, while our tenants can now help other entrepreneurs grow as well, “explained Justin Schreiber, La Oficina Partner and Act 20/22 investor. “At La Oficina we will be facilitating other community matchmaking opportunities such as this one, always taking into consideration the interests and requests from our clients with the opportunities we find out there. Besides acting as facilitator we will also offer a transitional workspace or conference room hours to help the start-ups or other organizations that also need space to grow,” added local partner Christie Dubón.

“We are one of the groups that is seeing firsthand the growth of the Act 20/22 community. We are seeing these companies come in and hire local talent, and now we are proud to make sure that growth also benefits our people and communities here in Puerto Rico,” added partner Raul Vidal.

During the Power Lunch event, La Oficina also unveiled its new image and a Membership Benefits Program for tenants and Virtual Office clients. “We want La Oficina to not only be a space to work, but also a space to foster relationships, a space that feels like you’re at your home away from home,” concluded Dubón.
